The Faculty of Management and Business Studies emphases on management education more than just business management. The commitment is thought leadership with a deep understanding of business. The approach to pedagogy combines fieldwork, case studies and instrumented feedback with a strong emphasis on concepts and theory. The faculty has a pool of well qualified and experience faculties. The faculties have a decent publication record and many of them ample industrial background. The Faculty claims of its Computer center offering a vast array of highly advanced computing resources. Linkages have been established with the IBM solutions research center, Microsoft lab and Intel lab. The Faculty has several software suites enabling the students to understand and build applications using the state of the art technology.

The department offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including B.Com, B.B.A, M.COM, MBA (with specialisation), and Ph.D. programs. The department's faculty members are well-qualified and experienced, and they are dedicated to help students reach their full potential.

Events and Seminars

  • An Expert Lecture on the "Need for Safety Lecture and Fire Safety Management in Industries                                                              " was conducted with the support and encouragement of the management of Dr. K. N. Modi University. The webinar aimed to enhance the skills of Safety Management among faculty and students, providing a knowledge-gaining session. Organized by the Faculty of Management & Business Studies, the webinar was held via Zoom on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Dr. Jitendra Narwal, HOD of Fire Technology and Safety at the Ganga Institute of Technology and Management, Haryana, served as the chief speaker. He covered a wide range of topics, including the Introduction, Historical Background, Structural Composition, Objectives, Types of Accidents, Methods to Overcome Accidents, International Opportunities, and Risk Management. The webinar saw a total of 82 participants, including faculty and students, who joined from the University Campus. Ms. Monika, Coordinator and Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Management & Business Studies, welcomed the participants. Following Dr. Narwal's presentation, Mrs. Kirti, Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the successful event.
  • Expert Lecture on Digital Transformation in Supply Chain Operations - 2024
    Under the auspices of Dr. K. N. Modi University's management, a webinar was conducted to enrich the understanding of digital transformation and supply chain management among faculty and students. The Faculty of Management & Business Studies organized the webinar via Zoom on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    Ashish Kaushik, Research Associate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, D.C.R.U.S.T, Sonipat, Haryana, served as the chief speaker. His comprehensive presentation covered various aspects of the topic, including Introduction, Historical Background, Structural Composition, Objectives, Impact of Digital Technology, Role of 3D Printing in Transitioning, International Opportunities, and Risk Management.
    The webinar, hosted at the University Campus, QEEE, saw a total of 49 participants. Mr. Anubhav Mittal, Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Faculty Management & Business Studies, welcomed the participants. Following the presentation, Mrs. Kirti, Assistant Professor, delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Monika, Assistant Professor, adeptly mediated the session.
    The webinar provided valuable insights and enhanced the skills of the attendees in digital transformation and supply chain operations.
  • An Expert Lecture on “Mastering Skills: “Mastering Skills” – 4 Dec, 2023.
    It is great to share that the management department successfully conducted an expert lecture (webinar) on "Mastering skills: Every job seeker must possess" on December 4, 2023 at 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. It is commendable that students from various departments, including the faculty of management & business studies, applied science, CSE department, agriculture department, and civil department, actively participated in the webinar. The participation of over 85 students demonstrates the importance and relevance of the topic.

    Overall, the "Mastering Skills" webinar was a resounding success. It empowered our students with valuable insights and practical guidance, preparing them to navigate the job market with confidence and equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their chosen careers.   • An Expert Lecture on “Project Management” - 2023 
    With support and encouragement of the management of Dr. K. N. Modi University, a webinar conducted in order to enhance the e-learning skill of the faculties and students with the knowledge gaining session. Faculty of Management & Business Studies organized the webinar through zoom link on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:30 am- 1:30 p.m.  Dr. Jaspreet Dahiya (Deputy Dean & HOD of Commerce Department) from Baba Mast Nath University, Haryana was the chief speaker and she covered almost all possible information related to topic, which is, Introduction, Historical Background, Structural Composition, Objectives ,Selection of Project, International Opportunities, Risk Management etc. There were total 58 participants in webinar which was held in University Campus, QEEE. Dr. Sheena, Coordinator and Assistant Professor (Faculty Management & Business Studies) gave a welcome address to the participants and after the presentation Mrs. Kirti (Assistant Professor) delivered the vote of thanks.
     
    An Expert Lecture on “SPSS29”  - 2023
    Faculty of Management & Business Studies organized an expert lecture on IBM SPSS 29.0 on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm- 3:15 pm through webex meet platform. The chief speaker Mr. Gaurav (Head Technician of SPSS and AMOS software in ICS, Calcutta) gave Demo class on “IBM SPSS 29.0” for the Faculties and MBA final year students. Mr. Gaurav explained the importance and uses of IBM SPSS 29.0 in Marketing Research area and other analysis purposes. He is focus on the new feature of advanced version of IBM SPSS29.0 like, Meta Analysis, Boot strapping, Custom tables, Decision trees, Missing values, graphical presentation of data etc. Total 18 participants attended the demo class which was held in University Campus, QEEE. All the participants got the practical knowledge of handling the data, import & export data from different files to SPSS. After the presentation, Dr. Sheena (Hod) and Mrs Kirti (Faculty of Management & Business Studies) delivered the vote of thanks.
  • “One Day Symposium on “Career Prospects in Commerce & Management” on 15th Feb, 2016

Faculty of Management & Placement and Training Cell, of Dr. K. N. Modi University, Rajasthan jointly organized a one day symposium on “Career prospects in  commerce and Management” on 15th Feb, 2016. The symposium commenced at 10.00 a.m. in the A/C Auditorium. The symposium brought together academicians, research scholars and student. In the inception, Professor Dr. Arun Singhal, Head Faculty of Management & Convenor addressed the gathering with the welcome note. Our Guest speaker Shri. V. k. Gupta, Director CMI Ltd. addressed the gathering on prospects in commerce and management programme.


  • “Talk -Show with Himanshu Batra” on 21st October, 2016

Faculty of Management, DKNMU had organized a “Talk-Show” with Himanshu Batra’s, a successful entrepreneur. He address the university students about his journey from a small town to the US and starting a venture back in India, guidance to students on different career options which includes applying to foreign universities, getting into startups or even starting their own companies.

  • “Motivational Seminar” on 21st November, 2017

Faculty of Management, DKNMU had organized a motivational seminar for management students. The resource person for this seminar “Prof. (Dr.) V. P. Singh”. The seminar was started with welcome of guest and participants. Followed next was lamp lighting ceremony accompanied by Saraswati Vandana. Next, a brief description of the university, which included the vision-mission and history along with recent achievements. The resource person said about personality development. The ultimate goal of a seminar was to change student profoundly on an emotional and/or mental level. The speaker related his own personal experience to an audience, which means he can come from any kind of background and use that information to inspire others.

  • “Tree Plantation” On 25th February, 2018

On 25th February, 2018, our faculty launched an extensive Plantation Programme on the occasion of the World Environment Day in different parts of our biological-agriculture garden and nearby vicinity to university. The students and teachers selected the empty places and the roadside to plant saplings in a well-organised way. The saplings were supplied by the university and nearby nursery. In order to restore the eco-balance of the afforestation drive was taken with all seriousness.

 

  • “AD MAD SHOW” on 20th August 2018

The Marketing Club of Faculty of Management organized an event ‘AD MAD Show’ on 20th August 2018. The objective of the event was to highlight the talent, creativity, innovation in creating an advertisement for the products such as Ghar tode rishte.com, Dabba TV, Lootera Real estate, Lawaris Moblie, Chaman Chashma,Iron Shoes, Toote Rishtey Matrimonial, Kangaal Bank, Hair Fall Tonic, Gadbad Ghotala.Com, to name a few. The participants were given the topic on the spot and were given 30 minutes for brain storming and for preparation. Total 20 teams of management students participated in the event comprising of 5 students per team. The teams presented and showcased their talent in the activity room. The winners and runner ups were given gift hampers.

  • “Plantation Day” on 20th July, 2019

On 20th July, 2019 , Faculty of Management along with other faculties of Dr. K. N. Modi University celebrated “Plantation Day” in the university campus and nearby vicinity. Administrative Staff, Faculty members and Students take actively part in this programme and planted plants in 100’s of numbers.

 

  • “AD MAD SHOW” on 23rd August, 2019

The Faculty of Management, DKNMU had organized an AD-MAD-SHOW on 23rd August, 2019 under marketing club. Advertisement and Marketing forms a part of the curriculum of the management students. This show was organized with an intention to give it an extension and to provide a platform for the students to apply the theoretical knowledge practically. The students were given a product in advance like quick-stick, agarbatti, online food supply chain etc. and they presented an ad for the same in a team of 5-6. Students were really creative in their presentation and came up with some super interesting and hilarious advertisement ideas.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO's)

  • PO1: Disciplinary Knowledge: The curriculum planning of the Programme envisages the students demonstrating fundamental knowledge of the areas related to respective discipline. The students will be made capable of evaluating diverse perspectives provided by the prism of disciplinary areas and a comprehensive picture of situations, using modern ways and means of dealing with issues arising in the dynamic world.
  • PO2: Communication Skills:  The teaching learning pedagogies used in the programme will make the students capable enough to deliver and communicate information pertaining to industry effectively.
  • PO3: Problem Solving: The programme involves acquainting the students with problem solving techniques by providing them with real life situations. The students shall be able to develop better sense of problem solving after going through the courses.
  • PO4: Modern Tool Usage: Create,  select  and  apply  appropriate  techniques,  resources  and modern IT tools including analysis,  prediction and modelling to complex activities with an under- standing of the limitations.
  • PO5: Analytical Reasoning: The programme offer opportunity for students to develop analytical reasoning through their active participation and involvement in teaching-learning process as envisioned in the student centric approach.
  • PO6: Cooperation/Team Work: The curriculum also inculcates in the young minds the qualities of teamwork, cooperation and solidarity which can be seen as a vision of the current dynamic world. They shall be able to gain insight into the need to balance the aspects of collaboration and competition for healthier delivery to society.
  • PO7: Research-related skills : The courses make them understand the need of the current business world and make them capable to view different aspects and dimensions from global perspective. The courses are 3 designed in such a way that the learners are encouraged to seek deeper understanding of issues and develop research abilities.
  • PO8: Moral and ethical awareness :The courses also involve training the students to check unethical behavior, falsification and manipulation of information in order to avoid debacles which can be seen rising persistently over the period of time.
  • PO9: Lifelong Learning: The courses are formulated to develop a sense of attitude towards life-long learning as the world of business is constantly in a state of flux. The course content shall help students build on sustaining themselves and being relevant in all times through having such an attitude.
  • PO10: Leadership readiness/qualities:The programme shall be able to inculcate skills like teamwork, cooperation, motivation and leadership etc. that help build the character of a future employee and facilitate him/her in inspiring others in an organization. The courses would be able to make the students capable of handling present complexities and future challenges.
  • PO11: Project  Management  and  Finance:    Demonstrate  knowledge  and  understanding  of  disciplinary principles and apply these to owners own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Infrastructure / Facilities

Library

The University is proud of its library system, which comprises the Central Library. It is one of the best-equipped libraries in the country. Under the potential for excellence programme of UGC, Centre for Digital Library and Documentation with Learning Resource Centre has been established in the year 2010 which is being largely used by the different categories of users. Central Library is the heart/soul of the academics at Dr. K. N. Modi University. Its carpet area is 5435 Sqm. It is designed to meet the information needs of the users with an aim of providing “Anytime, Anywhere Access” to information through remote access facility. The Central Library supports university in building an excellence in academics and research by establishing a knowledge portal.

 Computing Facilities

The faculty is equipped with state-of-the-art computing facility with multiple high end Servers. 24 Hours High-speed Internet facilities are available. The laboratory has the latest Operating Systems, Front End Tools, software’s for course and research study etc with wi-fi campus making internet readily accessible even at odd working hours and the campus buzzes with students even in the late evening. Instructors are also regularly available to assist students in planning and implementing their project.

 Classrooms

The faculty has excellent infrastructure and modern facilities, which assist in conducting the various academic programs. The lecture halls are equipped with modern audio video systems. They are designed to provide complete comfort for the intense hours of the classroom teaching and interaction. Classrooms are well decorated and equipped with state-of-art-instruments such as LCDs projectors.

Auditorium

To ensure that all activities related to performing arts, Seminars, Lectures, Concerts & Symposiums etc are held without any problem, a highly comfortable fully air conditioned state of art Auditorium is created. Auditorium has every possible feature that any modern auditorium should have, back stage facilities, wide screen, latest audio system, comfortable seats. Students take pride in performing in the Auditorium. The capacity of the Auditorium is 400.

Sports

Physical Education and sports is the birthright to access, which is essential for full development of one's personality. We, at Dr. K.N. Modi University, have Sport and Extra Curricular Committee which conducts various Physical Education Activities, Games and Sports Activities and other Recreational Activities.

Facilities for Football, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball and Athletics are provided.

The University teams participate in tournaments held every year in other Technical Institutes. Besides these the University also conducts Tournaments of various events. Annual Gaming meet is held with great fanfare and participated in with full zest and zeal.

Besides, the University also conducts various Yoga Activities, which are being taught by a Yoga Guru, which gives a boost to the moral and intellect of the student. Individual championship and group championship is awarded.

Research Initiatives


Faculty of Management and Business Studies lays strong emphasis on the sponsored research, collaborative research funded by the public or private agencies, and strong industrial interaction. The faculty has set up modern laboratories and the supporting infrastructure.The sponsored research has also emerged as a crucial factor in the creation of the infrastructure while strengthening the facilities in some of the emerging areas of technology. Our faculties maintain strong industrial links by undertaking consultancy assignments. This includes job of varied nature like troubleshooting, product and process development and design checks. In addition to these activities, the faculty members also run short-term company-specific training programs. 

The Research and Development section is responsible to provide administrative support and project management for the different types of project undertaken by the faculty.

  • Principal Investigator (PI) of a sanctioned project is considered to be the prime interface between the funding agency and research section.
  • Most of the powers rest with the PI. In case of relaxations of rules, Dean (Research) accords approval.
  • Separate Recruitment Process – Casual Appointments, Yearly renewable contracts (walk-in and shortlisting based).
  • Student Assistantships are offered.
  • Quicker Purchases under Projects.
  • Corporate Credit Card Scheme for expenditure upto 2 Lakh
  • 20% Administrative Overheads Charges are charged from Funding Agencies.
  • Generation of Professional Development Fund of PI/Co-PIs out of Administrative Overheads realized under Projects.

Co-Curricular and Extra-curricular activities

The following co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are conducted on regular basis apart from a compulsory credit based evaluation for all students. For each year of study there is a 4 credit course and is compulsory for all students. Students are evaluated on the basis of their participation in voluntary services, performance in games and sports, performance in literary activities, performance in cultural activities and their participation in District/Regional/State/National and International level events.In the past our students have excelled in activities at National Level, Youth Festival in International Level and have also won several awards in various Technical Events. The following activities are regularly conducted in the university and/or participated by students outside.

  • Various Club Activities run in the department on weekend basis; like finance club activities, marketing club activities and HR club activities.

The University organizes Cultural Activities regularly throughout the year for the all-round development of students. In addition to the compulsory component, competitions are organized at Faculty, Institute and Inter-Institute levels in different categories viz. Business & Management, Literary, Fine Arts, Dance, Dramatics and Music.

Workshop/Guestlectures/Industrial Visit

Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a student who is pursuing a professional degree. It is considered as a part of college curriculum. The objective of an industrial visit is to provide us an insight regarding internal working of companies. We understand that theoretical knowledge is not enough for a successful professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visit provides students a practical perspective of the work place.

REPORTED ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT AN CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY FORCE 23 AUGUST, 2019 FOR ALL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT STUDENTS.

Industrial visit was carried out at Central Industrial Security Force on 23 August, 2019 especially for all semester Management Department student. The main objective behind the visit was to make student aware about how various activities related to Industrial security training are carried out in organization and give them feel of managers as soon as they start there course. We 40 students along with Faculty left for visit at 8:00 a.m. from university campus and took about two and half hour to cover the distance. The organization is located in C.I.S.F DEOLI (TONK District) in Rajasthan.

The Institute encourages its faculty and students to interact with industry in all possible ways with the spirit of deriving mutual benefit. The major modes of interaction are listed below:
